Bonnie Wright

Bonnie Francesca Wright (born 17 February 1991) is an English actress, model, director, and activist. Her most well-known character is the role of Ginny Weasley, the Harry Potter film series's main character. Born in London, Wright portrayed the role for ten consecutive years until she was chosen to play the character in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II (2011). Wright was in numerous independent films following the film series. These films were met with mixed reviews. Wright made her stage debut with Peter Ustinov's The Moment of Truth in 2013 at the Southwark Playhouse. In 2012 she graduated from the University of the Arts London with a degree in filmmaking. In 2012, Wright founded BonBonLumiere and began making short films. Her first project she directed was the coming-of-age drama Separate We Come. Separate We We Go (2012). The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival to high critical acclaim. She also directed Know Thyself (2016) starring Christian Coulson and Sextant (2016). Both films explored emotional and natural landscapes as their themes. Wright's three-part series, Phone Calls, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2017. Medusa's Ankles (2018) featuring Kerry Fox and Jason Isaacs was released by Wright. The show is based on A. S. Byatt's The Matisse Stories. She also produced music videos for singers Sophie Lowe, Pete Yorn as well as Scarlett Johansson. Wright is well-known as an environmental activist; she is also an ambassador for the charities Greenpeace and Lumos.
